Our favourite Matcha Recipes

The three best ways to enjoy your Mindful Matcha year round

Whether on a cold autumn morning or a hot summer afternoon we drink our Mindful Matcha daily and would love to share our three favourite recipes to prepare and enjoy your matcha tea in any season and weather.

Mindful Matcha is a ceremonial grade matcha of the highest quality and to savour its mild and almost sweet taste we always recommend drinking it pure. A warm cup of traditionally prepared matcha tea is the perfect substitute for coffee in the morning and will boost your energy for a productive and successful day.

Mindful Matcha the traditional way

Our first recipe is for the true matcha-holics out there who enjoy the authentic taste of warm matcha tea. If like us you are absolutely in love with the pure taste of Mindful Matcha we recommend this really simple way to prepare your favourite Mindful Matcha Tea.

For all our recipes we use our traditional Matcha Accessoires or simply the Mindful Matcha Tea Set which includes all accessoires plus 30 gramms of Mindful Matcha.

Mindful Matcha Pur

What you need for 1 cup

  • 1 level tea spoon or 2 bamboo spoons (2 gr) of Mindful Matcha
  • splash of cold water
  • 100 ml of warm water (<80°C)

Tools

  • a bowl
  • a bamboo whisk or electrical frother
  • a bamboo spoon or teaspoon
  • a fine sieve (optional)
  • a glass (optional)

Preparation

In a traditional tea ceremony you start by warming up your bowl with hot water and softening your bamboo whisk in it for a couple of seconds. After that discard the hot water and dry your bowl well before sifting two bamboo spoons of matcha powder inside. A fine sieve helps to remove powdered lumps, but if you don’t own one just make sure to spend extra time to blend the matcha.

Once you have the powder in the bowl, add a splash of cold water and mix well by whisking in a W or an M shape. Gradually add your warm water (until 1/3 full and not hotter than 80°C) and whisk your tea briskly in the same motion until a light green creamy froth forms on top.

At the end, draw one circle and pick up the whisk in the centre of the matcha tea to create a slightly higher fluffy foam in the middle. Enjoy your tea straight from the bowl or transfer to a glass and top up with hot water if you prefer a milder version.

If you love your traditional matcha tea but it's just too warm outside to drink it hot - have no fear, we have two cool(ing) recipes that you can make in just a few seconds to get the refreshment and energy boost you need on hot summer days.

Iced Mindful Matcha Latte

Next up is the crowd’s favourite we served at last week’s Gourmet Festival in Düsseldorf - our Iced Mindful Matcha Latte. It is the perfect drink to enjoy on a hot day and a lovely treat for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Iced Matcha Latte von oben

What you need for 2 cups / 0,5l

  • 2 level tea spoons or 4 bamboo spoons (4 gr) of Mindful Matcha
  • 100 ml of warm water (<80°C)
  • 200 ml of cold coconut milk (you can substitute with any other plant-based milk such as soy, almond or oat)
  • 1-2 tea spoons of agave syrup (or other sweetener; more or less to taste)
  • 2 cups of ice

Tools

  • all Matcha accessoires
  • a blender

Start by preparing your matcha tea as shown in our first recipe and set aside to cool for a few seconds. Put the ice in your blender and blend it until it’s crushed into a snowy texture (10-15 seconds). Then add the coconut milk, agave and the matcha tea you prepared. Blend the mixture for another 5-6 seconds and serve in a glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of matcha powder on top and make sure to enjoy every sip of this delicious drink in good company.

Mindful Matcha Lemonade

Last but not least is our super refreshing cold Mindful Matcha Lemonade for which you only need 3 ingredients - water, matcha and lemons - it just doesn't get any simpler than this.
